Core Values

The ideals and values below are used to shape our decision-making and the way we interact with one another and with Cedar Rapids as a whole. These are not values that change from time to time, situation to situation or person to person, but rather they are the underpinning of our church culture.

  1. All that we say and do reflects God and our desire to grow closer to him
  2. Spiritual disciplines – including prayer, stewardship and study – are expressions of our obedience and methods for drawing closer to God. Matt. 6:9-10, Eph. 6:18
  3. The Bible is God’s living and holy word and offers relevant instruction, wisdom and encouragement for our lives today. 2 Tim 3:16-17
  4. Worship is a joyful way to connect with one another and celebrate God’s love for us. Ps. 96:9-13 & 100:2-5, Heb. 10:25
  5. God gifts and calls every person to ministry. 1 Cor. 12:4-5, Ro. 12:6-8, Eph. 4:11-13
  6. We are called to make more and better disciples. Matt. 18:14, Luke 5:32 & 15:7
  7. We must bring the gospel to people where they are, making God’s Word relevant in today’s world. 1 Cor. 9:19-22
  8. We make God’s love real to others through our service to them. 1 Cor. 12:4-5, Ro. 12:6-8, Eph. 4:11-13
  9. Loving, accountable relationships with one another are key to our spiritual growth. Acts 2:44-47, 1 Thes. 5:11
